Ambergris Caye (Belize)

I love islands and they are great destination ideas for the Carribean for January till May. Most of all you’ll get a pleasant warm weather and many wonderful sights of the blooming tropical flora.

Ambergris Caye, in case you do not know how to pronounce it, here's a little help: am-BUR-gris KEE. Amongst these islands: Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, Bora Bora, French Polynesia, Marco Island, Florida, Lewis and Harris, Scotland, United Kingdom, Naxos, Greece, Aitutaki, Cook Islandsm, Nosy Be, Madagascar, Easter Island, Chile and Ko Tao, Thailand, Ambergris Caye is voted the top islands in the world. Surely there is a reason why. My guess is the mystery of the Great Blue Hole. This blue hole which was formed during the ice ages when sea level was 100 metres lower than presently with the remains of these formations becoming targets of the same erosion from chemical weathering. People wants to see the halocline which is where saltwater and fresh water meets.

Another feature of this place is its rural and community-based tourism. Marginalized minorities receive new job opportunities such as harvest crops of cashew or the cacao farm. There arise the alternative markets, preservation and involvement of foreigners in their culture. Recommended things to do in Belize includes learning about the Garifuna craftsmanship, or exploring a Kriol, Maya or Garifuna village.

For the more adventurous and bolder people, try staying overnight! You can also do air, helicopter & balloon tours, shore excursions, water sports such as river rafting & tubing or scuba & snorkeling.
